Chiropractic Care for Children – What’s the story?

chavezchiropractic150x150There are widespread misunderstandings in the community on the Central Coast as to what chiropractic care actually is. Some believe that Chiropractors are nothing more than "back crackers". However, this is a misconception.

Chiropractic care has been known to assist babies, children and adults as it endeavours to promote optimum health and support preventative health measures rather than only trying to cure a person after they're already sick.

A healthy spine coupled with a healthy nervous system is crucial in terms of maintaining a healthy body, particularly for children. If certain areas of your child's spine lose their proper alignment and function this can irritate the nervous system and will interfere with the correct functioning of the organ, tissue, or muscle it controls. This is referred to as Spinal Subluxation. There are many ways that your child's spine can become "subluxated". A few reasons are:

  • The normal birth process

  • Falls

  • Repetitive postures, eg. improper carrying of school bag

  • Sporting activities

If your child develops a subluxation the symptoms may not be obvious immediately and the problems that may arise as a result of a subluxation usually depend on the age of the child.

Chiropractic care can help kids with:

Allergies

Ear Infections

Headaches

Bed wetting

Sinus

Learning difficulties

Colic

Lowered resistance

ADD/ADHD

Constipation

Allergies

Poor coordination

Reflux

Vision problems

Hyperactivity

Back pain

Asthma

Scoliosis

Poor sleeping habits
