Sometimes after your child has been fully toilet trained they can regress and start wetting their pants again. This is usually because the child is feeling some kind or stress. This may include a new baby being born which is linked to many regressions in toilet training. Other things that contribute to toilet training regression is an abrupt change in routine, moving, starting and/or changing day care or any other major change. There are also cases where children will have an unpleasant experience on the toilet due to constipation or urinary tract infection which can scare young children. Negative reinforcement also teaches children so always try to be positive. Those children who have wet their pants and then received negative attention may continue to do this if they are trying to get their parents attention as negative attention is better then no attention at all. Some children also become so wrapped up in their play that they often forget to get up and go to the toilet until its too late, so just a little reminder can help them get back on track again.
The best way to deal with the regression is with a positive attitude and practice. Focus on giving your child the extra attention they are craving and get them back into a routine they respond to as soon as possible.
If the regression continues consult medical attention.
