Enrolling in Kindergarten and Pre-primary

Parents with children born before July in 2004 or 2005 have just six weeks to enrol for kindergarten or pre-primary places in 2010.

Acting Director of the Office for Early Childhood Development and Learning at the Department of Education and Training, David Ansell, said kindergarten and pre-primary programs were a fantastic introduction to the school environment and gave children a head-start into learning.

“We know that early learning experiences build strong foundations to prepare children for future schooling,” Mr Ansell said. “Kindergarten and pre-primary programs, along with reading and telling stories, are also a good way for parents to become involved in their child’s education.”

Places are available for all eligible children in kindergarten and pre-primary programs in public schools. Enrolment forms are available online here or at public schools and community kindergartens and need to be returned by Friday, 24 July 2009.
