OnePath, the new name and brand for ING Australia, recently commissioned a survey which looked at Australians’ attitudes towards their names.
It revealed that three quarters of parents choose names simply because they like them, with only 13 per cent keeping the tradition of giving a child the first name of a family member.
One in 10 parents deliberately select unique or unusual names for their children, and less than 5% of parents and would-be parents said they would choose a double-barrel surname for their children.
OnePath has also compiled a list of the most popular baby names across Australia – visit
