Oh I know that road all to well. We went as far as taking miss 2 at the time to have a barium enema at the childrens hospital, after the Movicol and all the other peadiatrician recomendations did not work. There is nothing wrong with her bowel or diet, so we though. As it turns out it is a bit mental and a bit physical. We give her a teaspoon of metamucil mixed in about 30mls of water everymorning before breakfast after it sits for a minute or so it goes a bit like jelly. and Then we have MAX, max is a puppet (any puppet) He lives in the toilet room, on a hook on the wall, max lives on poo. (The things we do to make out kids poop) Every night before my daughter has a bath she has to do a poo. Once she has gone I put on the puppet, he looks in to the loo and is so delighted that his dinner is ready. We flush the button and his belly fills up. She is so proud to feed Max. We have had him for about 8 months now and I would be lost without him. At first I guilted her into pooping. Max would cry cause he was so hungry etc. So yes a poop puppet and metamucil have saved us from, looking at poo charts at the doctors, daily laxatives, varieties of milk, belly pains, moody days, wetting pants, streaking pants...all is better. She is so regular now, we dont need max but he is like a family pet now, Im not sure when he will go but I really dont care. 2 years of fecal compaction is over.
