Ok so my 4 yr old daughter is very smart and switched on for her age, she is very well mannered and has a very friendly personality. BUT everytime I take her on a shopping trip for groceries or clothes she turns into this devil child I don't know!! She won't listen to me she walks off round the shop, runs around, back answers me like a smart arse. I see other kids walking with there mums ad staying with them, it upsets me.I've tried everything from bribery, walking off on her, smacking (only a tap) threatening..... I just don't know what to do, I would live to give her a good old belting but people these days are against smacking so I don't want people to be thinking I abuse my child. It's come to the point I walk out of the shop nearly in tears and not wanting to leave the house with her.
Also she is absolutely perfect for her day care mum a little angel

you are not alone. i have a 5 yr old who is exactly the same. polite. very switched on and is most of the time a great kid.. then when we walk into a supermarket its like a switch tures on and hes totally different. hes loud, naughty, touches everything, rude, and basicly a nightmare to control. dont feel bad for giving her a light tap on the bum for acting up as we have all done it before and noone can tell you how to diciplin her.. i have dragged my son out kicking and screaming and taken him home and put him in his room . i have yet to find a solution to my problem so i leave him at home with my partner and explain why i refuse to take him with me. on a few occasions after being left behind hes aggred to behave and ive taken him on quick trips just to get milk ect and his behaiour was a small improvment each time. i still cant go shopping for longer than 5 mins without it turning into a power strugle so dont feel bad, you arent alone
