The Disco Dilemma

The Disco Dilemma

This week I’ve had a dilemma –

It’s my daughters first school disco on Friday, it’s big deal for her, and now, of course, it is becoming a big deal for me… a ‘painful’ big deal.

We checked her wardrobe and honestly, there wasn’t very much. So I agreed, as it was her first disco and an important event for her, I would get her something new, big mistake.

She wanted this dress:

I think it’s a bit over the top, price wise its 129.00 so not really cheap either, especially if she doesn’t use it again – although my thinking is she probably will (she was quick to point out that if I got her this, she would then have something to wear when she goes out for dinners) – what? Anyways, it is an option…

I just went to witchery and these are the other options … really it all works out the same for cost by the time you factor in a few things – but I think she would probably at least use the below more than the top or am I just being an ‘old fuddy duddy’?

Normally, I am not the type to go out and spend big on my kids clothes, for me, it’s just not practical. But I do get that this is a ‘first’ event in her life and so, as parents do – we go out of our way to make sure our little ones are happy. This is one of those times.

Yesterday, I caved.

I bought the ‘look at me’ party dress for my daughter.

No, can’t really afford it, and now, of course I will have to miss out on something else, so I have to ask – am I nuts?

Is it just me? Or, have you done anything, even remotely similar for your kids?
