A Christmas Checklist Shared

5 Votes

Mihiri UdabageWith a week away until our road trip begins I am starting (yes, only just starting, you won’t be surprised to read) my checklist of things to do before we go. I share it with you now in case there is someone out there even less organised than me, who would simply like to print this list off and pretend it’s theirs. A-OK with me Smile

*  Take the kids to see the local Christmas lights (those blessed people who have heart-felt dedication to all things twinkling and bright)

*  Beseech my neighbour to collect the mail, especially the AVON catalogue, which, though I never buy anything, do enjoy flicking through

*  Slyly suggest that if said neighbour is watering her garden, she could flick a little water in the direction of my potted gardenias

*  Courier some stuff to our destination in advance, ‘cause we will end up scratching our heads on the morning of our departure, trying to work out how to fit it all in the car

*  Find an extra long DVD for the kids that will not stop playing for the duration of our journey

*  Think of some car games to play just in case the DVD lets me down

*  Pack the umbrellas – with my luck it will rain the whole time

*  Put post-it notes all over the back of the front door – have you packed AJ’s blankie?? – otherwise we will be half way there and will have to turn back to get it.

*  Re-stock the car first-aid kit – it’s a bad time to be on the roads

*  Take 2 pairs of sunglasses – I will sit on one pair within ½ hour of starting our drive

*  Take my licence – another post-it note for the front door

*  Summer clothes, winter clothes – take the lot, someone is always too hot or too cold

*  Get a good night’s sleep the day before

*  Close the curtains before we leave

*  Pack the kids

*  Shut the door on another hectic December!

What have you got on your list that I haven’t got on mine? Share your brain power please, mine is running low!

In between growing up two little citizens, Mihiri spends time working on her on-line Fair Trade and Organic business www.generationwonder.com, volunteering for global charity Room to Read, doing canteen duty at school, and entering Fun Runs she has no hope of actually running. Mihiri has a husband who thinks she is loopy but who supports her anyway. She wishes she had written Twilight but acknowledges that could never happen because she can never remember her dreams. However, Mihiri is about to enrol in a screenwriting course that will see her write a movie that will knock Twilight for a six. Mihiri continues to dream...

  1. You make me :) Have a very merry Chrismas and travel safe. Looking forward to hearing about your holidays in the new year.

Eye spy is great with little kids, does not have to start with a letter. It can be something big or green or in the car out of the car.

CD's with christmas carrols on are fun to sing along to with little ones they learn the words and its hard to get grupmy listening to them again and again when it is so kindly reminding you of the festive season.
  2. Merry Christmas to you and the family too! As usual, you are an inspiration - will add CD and eye-spy to the list! Thank you :-)
