Where has my shadow gone?
Where has my shadow gone? By Mihiri Udabage Where has my shadow gone? The one that sat beside me and filled that vacant chair. Where has my shadow gone? I turn to look around me but there’s just some empty air. Where has my shadow gone? The one that danced along and kept me company. Where has my shadow gone? A jaunty walk, a skip, a hop, A bobbing head beside me. Where has my shadow gone? It’s lonely when I walk. Now it’s only me. Where has my shadow gone? I don’t feel any lighter, Only empty. Perhaps my shadow is playing tricks on me. A game of hide and seek. I’ll upturn the house to catch a glimpse, just a peek. My shadow has a name and I call it once or twice. I know it is in vain. My shadow left on my advice. You see, my shadow started school today. He left me at the gate. That’s where my little shadow’s gone. That explains the ache. 3 CommentsFeedAdd Comment |
