I DON’T KNOW HOW SHE DOES IT

This must be the ultimate mega chick flick of the year.

Starring; Sarah Jessica Parker as Kate, the ultimate working mum, Pierce Brosnan as Jack, the ultimate boss and Greg Kinnear as Richard, the ultimate, sensitive and understanding hubby/father. Before you reach for a bucket, there are many amusing moments, mainly provided by Kate’s assistant Momo, Olive Munn, who loathes kids and does not understand why anyone would want to ruin their life and career by getting pregnant, until...

We enter the organised chaos of a young family, where both young parents are trying to make their marks in their respective careers, and each is on the brink of achieving that moment of recognition. But Kate gets there first.

However, in the way of these divergent roads of success, is life. Two kids, a baby boy who is always happy to see his parents and a preteen girl, who is beginning to feel left by the sideline in her family’s emotional world.

We see the parents rush through their lives, missing many of the important moments, like a first hair cut for the boy, and as Kate’s job becomes more important and demanding of her time, her husband begins to feel more distant.

It is a feel good film that delivers, in the final reel, a sugary sweet ending, which most of us only occasionally dream of, but in reality, never get.

If you are a struggling career mum, or even if a single mum, this film might make you believe someone understands a working mother’s life.

However, maybe leave the hubby at home...

Boys have their movies; this one is for the girls.

RATING: PG (Mild sexual references and coarse language) (1 hr 31 mins)
