Busy parents running low on time should harness the time they spend online to access free tools to organise their finances and get back in control. Here are four ways to get started online:

1) There are a number of free online templates that can help you reach your financial goals
On the Google homepage you will notice in the top left hand corner a 'more' option. In the drop down, select documents, then search templates. There you will find ready made online documents that you can use on a daily basis, including these top five tools to put you in control of your finances - not the other way around:

Use this shopping list template to calculate the approximate cost of your groceries before you hit the store and decide what you can really afford
Financial planning starts with a to-do list - to help you keep track of everything from the phone bill to school excursion fee payment date

2) Create your own iGoogle page - this personalised home page allows you to add gadgets that help you to do things like track your finance portfolio, calculate currencies and loans, and even get tips from expert investors. You can also use gadgets like the petrol price tracker for everyday savings, so you can find the most price-friendly pump in your area

3) Get expert advice for free - YouTube is now the place to go to  get expert financial (and practical) advice
