Recipe No-Fat Brownies

Following from Easter indulgences, I am sharing a recipe shared with me from the girls in my circuit class. As our family avoids wheat and eggs due to my son’s allergies, I replaced the egg whites with egg replacer and the flour with gluten-free flour and it was still great! This recipe is from www.calorieking.com.au

Serves: 8 person(s)

Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 30 mins

Yield: 8 x squares

Perfect for the chocaholic!

Ingredients:
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 egg whites, lightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup pie apple, canned (sugar-free)
1/4 cup cocoa powder

Directions:
Preheat oven to 180°C.

Spray a square nonstick baking pan (20.5cm x 20.5cm) with nonstick cooking spray.

Combine the ingredients in a large mixing bowl, blend well. Pour batter into pan and bake 20-30 minutes until cooked. To test if batter is cooked, insert a toothpick. If it comes out clean, brownie is cooked.

Remove from oven and let cool for five minutes in pan.

Gently remove from pan; place on wire rack and when cool, sprinkle with icing sugar if desired. Cut into eight squares.
Variations:
Fresh apple (cooked) can be used in preference to tinned apple.

  1. That's a huge amount of sugar. I'd suggest replacing most if not all with xylitol. I like the idea of using apples.
  2. Brownies
