The first time I heard the phrase “crunchy parenting” I’ll admit I had to google it.  (It’s a good thing I read a lot of blogs.  How else would I keep up with all the current buzz words?)  In a basic sense the term crunchy is interchangeable with alternative.  But as more and more parents move away from mainstream ideas... from blogger: Catherine to read more, click here
As I delighted in the wondrous (and sometimes not so wondrous) changes in my body when I was first pregnant with Noah, I became very interested in doing the right thing for both of us. Whether this meant cutting out caffeine and alcohol, or concentrating on myself and listening to my body, I found I was more in tune with it during... from blogger: Joh to read more, click here

What is Organic?

The  Organic philosophy incorporates a respect for the natural order of seasons and animal behaviour. Organic produce is not genetically modified and organic farming methods can be better for the environment than conventional because they don’t use synthetic chemicals like pesticides or herbicides.

Organic animals are free-range and there’s no use of growth promoters such as steroids or hormones and you may find a wider range of fruit and vegetables than with conventional produce.

However, organic produce isn’t guaranteed free of all chemical residues (they can drift in from other areas or persist in the soil), but independent testing consistently finds fewer and lower levels of residues of pesticides, herbicides and other farming chemicals than in conventional produce. On the global scale, the jury is still out as to whether organic agriculture can produce enough food to feed the world.

Many products claim to be organic and charge accordingly, be sure you are getting what you pay for. Read more
