Dear Readers...

How many sleeps before my birthday? Can I have a fairy party? Can I have a spiderman cake? I call this line of questioning ‘birthday buzz' and it humms along at varying degrees throughout the year. Though the very thought of planning and hosting the next party 9 months before its due date may send a shudder down your spine, ‘birthday buzz' is a childhood right and as parents we can expect to hear quite a lot of it.

The trend ‘du jour' in parties is environmental - all things green and is a refreshing change from all things red, yellow and blue in brightly lit play centres. Emily received an invitation to a ‘spotlight prowl party' at Centennial Park. 'How lovely', I thought, until her friend's mother asked me to be a designated ‘responsible adult'. Not too sure about how responsible I can be when faced with anything other than children crawling but I took the challenge and said yes.

This week we have put together a party issue with some great ideas and a fantastic competition from Tupperware to appeal to the party animal in you... enjoy!
