Dear Readers...

Recently I had a discussion with Dr Howard Chilton (author Baby on Board) who was telling me about one of his ‘Dads’ who during the early weeks of fatherhood said he felt like an ATM machine. All the attention went to his wife and baby, his wife only had time for their baby and the reality of becoming the sole provider and feeling of loosing his wife surpassed the joy of his sons arrival. This is not uncommon however it is uncommon for a man to talk about those feelings, the good news is they are temporary.

Father’s are under more pressure in todays world than ever and are society’s unsung hero’s. Some are more present than others. My father was a single Dad in the sixties, he raised my sister and I and was there for us, our superhero, a hard act to follow. My children’s father not so much but I know he does his best, the kids love him unconditionally. Father’s Day to me is about my children and the special man in their lives they call Dad. We plan, we make, we bake, we celebrate... even though we have been divorced eight years we are still family.

As Father’s Day is approaching we decided to produced this special edition featuring a beautiful message from Peter Cahill, superhero to his two girls about those magic words ’I love you Dad’ and some tips for new fathers from our finance editor and father of one with one on the way, James Randle along with the history of Father’s Day and some ideas for gifts and ways to celebrate.

I wish you well in planning your Father’s Day and invite you to share your idea’s in our forums.
