Dear Readers...
The first letter of the alphabet my daughter could read was ‘M’, not for Mummy, but for McDonalds. It happened on a drive to Canberra just as I was thinking how sad it was that the golden arches interrupted otherwise glorious scenery, Emily pointed her finger and said “M”. Another letter came to mind but I resisted the urge to use it! The repetitive image of golden arches in the sky and TV advertisements had created a marketers ultimate outcome... brand recognition.

So with this in mind, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to pass this little gem on to you. We as a group of parents with a voice to many parents have been promoting ‘The Shamburger Campaign’ (see below and please get involved).
This week, McDonald’s director of marketing Helen Farquhar hit out at attempts to ban the advertising of ‘junk’ food by the ‘shamburger campaign’ claiming that the image portrayed of the fast food giant “isn’t reality and a ban on advertising isn’t the solution – there isn’t one shred of evidence connecting advertising with obesity rates.”
Interesting... I wonder why they spend millions on advertising? |

Australian First in Childcare...

Hubba Bubba Childcare Centre in Artarmon, NSW fell victim to The ABC Learning collapse and the building owner Margaret Mezrani had to act quickly to take over and save the centre and save it she certainly did!
Taking a fresh approach to the management of the centre, Hubba Bubba is the first centre in Australia to offer Kids Cover Insurance to all enrolled families, free of charge as part of the enrolment process.
"It seemed logical to me, absenteeism is high especially in winter and amongst the younger children. Kids Cover makes it possible for families to keep their children tucked up at home until they are properly better without parents having to pay for the days they don’t attend after the deferral period. If the kids are home they are not spreading infection at Hubba Bubba, I think all centres should do it,” said Margaret.
